In April 2008, during my month of preparation to scale Mt. Pico de loro, I started to feel pain at the center of my chest, though a little bit worried, I did not give so much attention since my mind is focus on a mountain of about 664 mts high. It was categorized as easy climb, so for me the trek was just for fun since I already climbed Mt Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines way back in 1981.

Carbon Dioxide
According to Dr. Buteyko, a russian scientist and medical doctor carbon dioxide is the basic nutrition of every life form of earth. It acts as the main regulator of all functions in the organism; it is the main internal environment of the organism; it is the vitamin of all vitamins."
He discovered that the real cause of asthma and other related diseases is a radical depletion of CO2 - carbon dioxide - in the lungs. This isn't so strange when we learn that oxygen cannot be assimilated by cells without adequate amounts of CO2. There is only 0.03% carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today. Yet to absorb oxygen a healthy body requires about 6.5% carbon dioxide in the alveoli of the lungs. Therefore your lungs act to trap in some of the carbon dioxide produced by your body. Should the level of carbon dioxide in human lungs fall to 3%, it is fatal.
Paradoxically, while overbreathing means we are taking in more air,we are actually receiving less oxygen in vital areas of our brain and body.
Excess Carbon Dioxide Loss Leads to Mucus, Tightening, Spasms Unfortunately, over time this chronic overbreathing, causes an above normal loss of carbon dioxide (CO2)—a gas most of us believe is a "waste gas", but in reality is a precious gas which is required for critical regulation of many bodily functions. One of the most important functions of CO2 is to regulate the acid/alkaline balance of our blood, because if the blood becomes too acidic or too alkaline, we will die. When the blood becomes too acidic due to too much CO2 in the lungs, (as in the case of holding one's breath for too long), a person faints—a defense mechanism. When the blood becomes too alkaline due to too little CO2 in the lungs, (caused by overbreathing), oxygen forms a tight bond with hemoglobin (the Bohr Effect *), inhibiting oxygen release to the tissues. In an effort to prevent further CO2 loss, the lungs secrete mucus, airways tighten and smooth muscles spasm—again, a defense mechanism, which we call "asthma attack".
So, the next time you fart......say "praise the lord".

Is Big C really curable?
Dr. Rath explained that 90% of all cancer fatalities result from metastasis, the invasion of cancer cells to other organs and tissues. This discovery is a very important scientific breakthrough since understanding how cancer cells metastasized can be a way to properly manage and eventually stop it from spreading to other cells and organs of the body.
To seek for an answer, He experimented on how cancer cells can find its way to other cells and organs so he can develope a method to control it.
He said that If we want to understand how disease spreads in the body, we have to take a look at the way cells move through the body. This is easy to explain in the case of red and white blood cells: these cells are just carried along in the blood stream. However, it is more difficult to imagine how cells composing other organs can move through a body’s strong connective tissue. In order to move through the connective tissue, any cell has to be capable of temporarily dissolving the surrounding tissue—the collagen and elastic fibers -so it can make its way through. For this purpose the cells use enzymes that can temporarily digest and weaken the connective fibers surrounding them.
This same principle is true with the corrupted cells which uses collagen dissolving enzyme to facilitates the spread of diseases through the body. The activation of this collagen-dissolving mechanism leads to the development of aggressive diseases such as cancer and microbial infections.
He then experimented on nutrients that could counter the activities of this collagen dissolving enzyme and results were remarkable. A simple combination of nutrients was able to stop cancer cells from invading the collagen matrix! The most powerful nutrient combination contained vitamin C, the amino acids L-lysine and L-proline, and a polyphenol fraction of green tea known as Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG).
The study indicates that the nutrient combination containing vitamin C, L-lysine, L-proline, and EGCG inhibited MMP-2 and MMP-9, two of the digestive enzymes that cancer cells use to invade tissues in the body. In fact, the more effective the nutrient inhibition of cell movement was, the lower the enzymatic activity of cancer cells.
Because these nutrients can stop the collagen-dissolving activity of cancer cells, they also can stop these same cancer cells from spreading in the body.
If this discovery of Dr Rath could solve one of the most feared diseases haunting us in this planet then, truly victory over cancer is at hand.
